Okay, I get it. There are so many website platforms out there that it can be overwhelming to try and decide which one you should choose. You’ve probably looked at Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, Showit, and maybe even more. And while they all have their benefits, I’m here to tell you why you should without-a-doubt choose WordPress (.org! Not to be confused with the .com version) for your website. Let’s get into it:
Customization
Hands down, WordPress is the most customizable website platform. You may be able to get your desired results from other platforms, but it will take much more effort and possibly some even, dare I say it, coding! But with a WordPress page builder, you can have BOTH the easy drag and drop functionality plus the ability to customize your website however you like.
SEO
Ahhhh, the ever-exciting topic of search engine optimization. Okay, so it’s not that exciting, but with WordPress, you don’t have to worry that you chose the wrong platform for SEO; WordPress tends to rank higher in terms of SEO than other platforms. Plus, you can use user-friendly plug-ins (like Yoast SEO) to further optimize your site.
Control
With WordPress, you have full control of your site. With platforms like Squarespace or Wix, you’re basically just renting your site. You own your WordPress website and all its content. Think of it like Instagram. It can be good for your business, but at the end of the day, Instagram has the power and could shut your account down for any reason they deem appropriate.
Easy to Learn
Contrary to popular belief, WordPress is very user-friendly and easy to learn! (🙋🏻♀️ I speak from experience!) Especially with starter themes and page builders. In addition, there are SO many free resources to help you out and get you started – youtube tutorials (my personal fave), wpbegginer, and WordPress specific Facebook groups just to name a few!
Blogging
If blogging if a big part of your business, you should absolutely be using WordPress as your website platform. WordPress was originally meant for blogging and because of that, the options today are endless. You’re able to design your blog page and posts to look exactly how you want them and add different team members to your site as blog contributors without giving them full access to your site.
Affordable
Also contrary to popular belief, WordPress is extremely affordable! It’s actually a free program, you’ll just need to pay for your domain and hosting. This is super cool because you can choose a super budget-friendly option or go with a domain/hosting service that’s a little more expensive if you want to. Again, you are in control of what you spend.
Okay, so have I convinced you?! I hope so! I love WordPress and I personally use it with the Elementor page builder.
